Privacy Policy

Who we are

MyPets is operated by Artur Harutyunyan, an individual entrepreneur based in Yerevan, Armenia ("MyPets", "we"). We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at the address at the end of this page.

What we collect

Everything below is either given to us by you or created by the app as it works. We do not buy data about you from anyone.

• Account: first name, last name, email address and a password (stored only as a hash). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from them — nothing else.
• Profile photo, if you add one.
• Pet profiles: name, species, breed, gender, birth date, weight, notes and photos you add.
• Community posts: lost-pet reports and mating requests, including the contact phone number, last-seen location and description you type in. These are public by design — that is how other pet owners can help.
• Comments, reactions and photos you post on other people's posts.
• Favorites and reviews you leave for places in the directory.
• Reports and blocks you make against other users' content.
• Device data: a push-notification token and an installation identifier, so we can send lost-pet alerts to your phone. Also basic diagnostics the app sends when something fails.
• Location: the app asks for your location only while you are using it, to show how far away places are. This is processed on your phone and is not sent to our servers.
• Analytics data: Firebase Analytics (Google) automatically collects anonymous usage data such as app opens, screen views, crashes and basic device information (device model, OS version, language). This data is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you personally.

Why we use it

We use your information to run the app: to sign you in, show your pets, publish your posts in the community feeds, deliver comments and reactions, send push notifications you have allowed, and answer your support requests. We also use it to keep the community safe — reviewing reports, enforcing blocks and removing content that breaks our Terms of Use.

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

We use anonymous analytics data from Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used, to identify and fix crashes, and to improve the experience for everyone. This data is aggregated and never used to target or profile individual users.

What is public

Lost-pet reports and mating requests, together with the name you signed up with, your profile photo and any phone number you enter in a post, are visible to every user of the app. Comments and reactions are visible to everyone who can see the post. Pet profiles are private unless you post them. Please only include a phone number in a post if you are comfortable with other pet owners calling it.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the services that run MyPets, and only as much as they need:

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications; receives your push token.
• Firebase Analytics (Google) — collects anonymous app usage and crash data to help us improve the app. Google may process this data on its servers. See Google's privacy policy for details.
• Apple and Google — when you choose "Sign in with Apple" or "Continue with Google".
• Our hosting provider — stores the database and uploaded photos on servers we control.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymous usage analytics on the mypets.am website only, not in the app.
• Authorities — only if the law requires it, for example a valid court order.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, pets, posts, comments, reactions, favorites and reviews are deleted permanently within 30 days; backups are overwritten within 90 days. Reports you filed and blocks you made are kept in anonymised form so that moderation decisions still make sense. Server logs are kept for up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can see and edit your profile and pets in the app at any time. You can delete your account from Profile → Delete account — this removes everything and needs no email to us. You can also ask us to export your data, correct it, or delete it by writing to the address below. Under the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Protection of Personal Data you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to the Personal Data Protection Agency.

Push notifications

Lost-pet alerts and replies to your posts arrive as push notifications only if you allow them when the app asks. You can switch them off at any time in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without them.

Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to collect anonymous usage data about how the app is used. This helps us understand which features are popular, detect crashes and performance issues, and improve MyPets over time.

• Firebase Analytics collects data such as app opens, screen views, session duration, device model, operating system version and crash reports.
• This data is anonymous and aggregated — it is not linked to your account, email or any personal information.
• We do not use analytics data for advertising or to build profiles about individual users.
• You can limit analytics data collection by adjusting your device's privacy settings (e.g. "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android).

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Access to production data is limited to the people who operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

MyPets is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will show a notice in the app and update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use MyPets after that means you accept the updated policy.
